Back to topCALIBA Golden Poppy Awards 2022
The members of the California Independent Booksellers Alliance (CALIBA) annually present The Golden Poppy Book Awards to recognize the most distinguished books written by writers and artists who make California their home.
Committees for each category are made up of booksellers throughout the state tasked with developing a final ballot, then voted upon by CALIBA's 238 membership bookstores and their bookseller staffs.
CALIBA's goal is to elevate California voices and recognize the unique and diverse talents within our state, as voted upon by the booksellers who know them best.
The Golden Poppy Awards are given for books published in the following categories:
Fiction, Non-Fiction, Mystery,
Glenn Goldman Award: Cookbooks, Glenn Goldman Award: California Lifestyle, Martin Cruz Smith: Emerging Diverse Voices,
Poetry, Romance, Octavia E. Butler Award (Science Fiction / Fantasy / Horror),
Young Adult, Middle Grade, Children’s Picture Book,
and Mirrors & Windows: Excellence in Children's Literature.
The Golden Poppy 2022 Award winners will be announced in a star-studded virtual awards ceremony -- think book-ish Oscars --
co-hosted by authors Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Steven Rowley.
